ECS KN1 Extreme - Need help w/ RAID 1 Setup

Sounds like you have everything correct. The SiS RAID will have no drives because it uses SATA 5 & 6 only; SATA 1-4 are used solely by the nForce RAID. What makes you think that the RAID is not working?

I have the same board and am using RAID 1, can you describe the exact problems you are having? --Rexxe

    Unstable Msi Neo4 Platinium

Out of curiousity, what is your DVD writer. I had an issue with my new system because of the firmware of the DVD writer, believe it or not. It is a BenQ 1620. Apparently there is an issue when using the BenQ drive with the NVidia IDE drivers; I kept getting random reboots and crashes. Once I...

New nForce4 Ultra mobo from ECS

VIrtualLarry, I believe the BIOS chips get stacked. SO you stack a new BIOS chip on top of the old one if it goes (ECS's so-called "Top-Hat Flash"). I was actually thinking about getting the ECS board as I'm not looking to do any overclocking, but you make a good point about the number of...

    SPDIF connector

SPDIF = Sony/Phillips Digital Interface. It is for digital output of sound through an RCA connector. The optical connector is called a TOSLINK connector. It is typically better to use RCA for short distances and optical for long distances, though I've found that RCA is the way to go 90% of...

    DFI Ultra-D - ethernet card = RJ45 LAN ports?

Doesn't really matter which one you use as your cable modem is probably only 10/100 speed. However, in general, the one not connected through PCI is the one to use as it can handle a larger bandwidth (the PCI one is limited to the speed of a PCI bus, which I forget).

    Early AMD price drop!

Unfortunately it's not instantaneous. It takes a week or two for it to trickle down to the retailers, which sucks big time because I'm in the market for one.

    Early AMD price drop!

PIB = "Processor in a Box". The price chart says "This listing reflects pricing for direct AMD customers in 1000-unit tray quantities, except when designated as PIB quantities." Notice the except in there, which is the case for A64s. So my guess is that 1 PIB is that price. So, when you...

    Does ECS make quality boards?

I have read, however, that they are doing a lot to change their image, but I'm not sure if they are successful in making quality motherboards compared to the more well known companies. I just found this over at Tom's Hardware: However, do you think I'm just better off getting the MSI or...

    Does ECS make quality boards?

I'm in the market for a new computer and am looking towards the nforce4 boards that are out. I'm not an overclocker, and am unclear on which board i should get. I noticed that ZZF has the ECS board for a very low price, but wasn't sure how it compared to the DFI or MSI. Is it worth the extra...

MSI NF4 Ultra released in stock

The NewEgg board is different than the ZZF board. The NewEgg one has 1 PCI-Ex4 and 1 PCI-Ex1 slots while the ZZF one has 2 PCI-E1x slots. Even the pics are different..... The DFI Ultra board looks interesting as it has 2 PCI-E x16 slots, and 1 PCI-Ex1 and 1 PCI-Ex4 slots, despite the fact...

Where are the socket 939s with PCI-E

The 939s with PCI-E have been announced for months now and they are still not out yet. Does anyone have an ETA for any of these boards, particularly the nForce4 ones? Thanks, Rexxe
