Thanks for the replies.
My XP cd is SP1. No I didn't know about installing SATA drivers. Foolish as I am, I thought I could just plug it in and have it work.
I have since made a SATA driver floppy from the Epox installation disk, pressed F6 during XP install and loaded the SATA drivers (XP...
Building an all new system:
HD 160GB|WD SATA2 WD1600JS
EPOX EP-9NDA3J nForce3 ULTRA RT
CPU AMD 64 |3000+ ATHLON 64
2x512 Corsair Value
Everything works beautifully until I install XP on the new drive. After first reboot during clean install I will get "missing operating system."...
Fixed it! I never unchecked the "Show taskbar notification icons", but I had unchecked the "hide hint balloons" box. Undoing that fixed it. Tweakui must have its wires crossed. I noticed some of its settings had no effect.
Thanks for the tip about restore. I've always thought it would be a...
System was in perfect working order. I used Tweakui to make some minor
changes. The last change I made was to check "keep RAS connections alive
when changing logon".
I then logged off and back on to test it, and found my system notification
area was completely gone except for the clock. In...
I read on THG that
1. Hard drives aren't fast enough to achieve 150mb/s
2. PCI bus has a limit of 133mb/s
Therefore choosing a SATA over a comparable 7200 PATA is a waste of money, unless a skinny cable really means a lot to you.
Comments?
Possibly, but with so many people getting the same errors I'm inclined to think there's a serious design flaw. Be nice if it at least worked with the software it shipped with.
Well im actually glad to see im not the only one having troubles with this sanyo drive. Its going back.
T0100: I/O error (03/73/03) - CD error - power calibration area error
T7728: TrackWriter warning - Operation continues
T0100: I/O error (04/09/01) - CD-Recorder error - tracking servo failure...
Actually my win2000 drive has always shown up as D: in win2k. My boot drive has always shown up before as C: (as makes sense). Why the boot drive, which used to be C: now appears as F:, right between two CDROM drives E: and G: is pretty wierd
I use Partition magic 6.0
I previously had a dual-boot installation on two drives:
HD0: C: Win98
E: Storage
HD1: D: Win2000
After copying all partitions to a new 40G drive, copying them in the correct order (C: D: E:), I find the C: and D: drive letters have been switched in Win2k (fine in Win98). I now...
Im looking to upgrade my rev 1.0 also. Any reason a P3 800 100mhz FSB wouldnt work? It supports 100 x 8 multiplier, not sure about voltage but I assume it would support it.
