Yeah, 23 inches+ would be fine. It would be nice to have a larger monitor, but then I'd want a higher resolution than 1080p which doesnt work as nicely when duplicated feeds and wouldn't sit besides my current monitors... so 24 inches is about right.
Tempted by the Ultrasharp U2414H at the moment, http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2414h.htm as it has HDMI inputs and can take a sound bar and can daisy chain?
Also, I'm not being stupid, but MHL can take normal HDMi inputs, right?
