Justa thought, but can you load your OS to the formatted drive and then try copy and paste from the image in WindowsExplorer. Might save what you need...
Dr. Hossenfeffer: I think you nailed it. Prior to going to the site that mouse-trapped me, my AVG antivirus detected a trojan that I neglected to remember the name of. I just denied access and surfed on. Not one of the smartest things I've ever done...
As the mousetrapped site would not let me...
Can boot to safe mode, but symptoms remain the same. Ran AVG from DOS and found nothing. Ran Spybot and found nothing. Using backup drive to boot from, found "himem.sys" in the infected drives' Temp file???
What now Good Doctor???
A visit to an unknown pornsite kills my computer:
Boots to normal colored screen with no icons, only mouse. Ctrl-Alt-Del shows nothing running. No Explorer, No SysTray (with Win98SE).
What can I do to make this computer usable again??? (and then stop going to pornsites..! )
Thanx,
Recommend using single edge razor blade(new and sharp). Cut on a hard flat surface. Will work well if done carefully. 40 conductor much more "forgiving" than the 80...
Austinwilli: Good idea. Will try to do that. Pretty sure that I didn't get hit by that clever Nimda. Ran virus scans at TrendMicro with success. Whoever wrote that Nimbda creature was extremely clever. Thank God he(she) was not malicious...Thanx and Regards,
Have 256M system memory; My gut tells me this is related to the DOS "upper" memory situation. Read somewhere that the fix was some sort edit to some sort of....Note: can load apps from CD with no probs;only floppy loads are affected. Go Figure...
I've tried everything but a Hammer to fix this damn thing...When trying to load an app from my floppy(using win98SE) I keep getting the infamous "insuffcient memory" error message. System will not let me copy the floppy to the HD, as well. The drive is OK. Any thoughts(or better yet...

Found a new winner for the Sandra Look-Alike Contest. You can go here and get the "Fresh Diagnose" pgm(less than 1M). Will Benchmark both Read and Write in the Hard Drive test. Made my system look decent, so I'm usin' it...Regards,
Got the K7S5A with 1.4 Tbird up and running and then ran the system test @ www.pcpitstop.com :
The results showed my FSB running at 66Mhz...Has anyone else gotten similar result with same setup???
Although the bios shows 133/133, it it possible that the FSB is actually running in the SAFE mode...
Isopropyl Alcohol in the 99percent variety can be found at your local drugstore...Get the 99(or 90) percent stuff. Not to be confused with the Alcohol sold at your local liquor store...

Added another stick of 128M Kingston CAS3 that was SINGLE sided: System would not run it at CAS2: registry load...
