I used generic silicon (that cheap white stuff) on a P3 800. I know it is not performing as well as AS but that's all could find in this small town. My greatest fear it that it will dry and stop transfering heat. I have read something like this on this forum. Is there really something to fear...

Is it less heat sensititve? I currently own an Athlon and my case sounds like a jet engine. I plan on building a second system. Will a P3 system end up with 5 fans like the Athlon to get acceptable temps? BTW I'm not overclocking anything. Thanks.
