A Motherboard to bridge the past with the future?

Dang, I wish there was a path to take that didn't feel like some kind of compromise. I guess that path is upgrading CPU/ram/MB all at the same time, which I really don't have the money for right now. Maybe I'll just get one of those Belkin USB cards to keep things on the cheap. In the system...

A Motherboard to bridge the past with the future?

Hmmm... well the USB device that I really need it for "recommends" a 133mhz fsb anyway, so I thought maybe I could kill two birds with one stone. Anyone using some kind of 24/96 USB audio device on a system with a slower fsb than 133? Just curious if the recommended spec was a bit pumped up...

A Motherboard to bridge the past with the future?

They did, but they were pretty rare. The "green meanies" were a batch of 700's that were running at 1G+. PCNut was selling them in combos for a while, and that's where I got mine. That's a bummer that only one board supports both types of ram. Are all socket A boards compatible with both the...

A Motherboard to bridge the past with the future?

I currently have an abit kt7-raid and have done everything I could to try to get USB working to no avail, so I am left with the choice of either getting a USB PCI card or spending an extra few bucks and getting a new motherboard. I'm pretty happy with how I have everything configured right now...

    boot problems with kt7

Welp, I removed everything and tried again. No luck. Final conclusion = bad motherboard. And luckily, the small company that I bought it from is at comdex until wednesday... so no rma # for me until then :( RD

    boot problems with kt7

I have tried booting with nothing but the bare essentials: hd/floppy/vid ... still nothing. The power supply is the one that comes with the fong kai 603 (250w athlon approved). Right now I'm using an old s3 trio card to test the machine out, but I have a gfII in the mail. I guess my next step is...

    boot problems with kt7

I remove the ata connection from the motherboard to the floppy / hd / cd and they all power up... if they are connected to it, they don't, which means something isn't passing power on the motherboard itself, I think. RD

    boot problems with kt7

I just recieved a preassembled kt7-raid w/128 mushkin rev2 and pretested thunderbird @1050+. I switch the machine on and only the fans come on. There is no beep, no HD noise, no nothin, except fans and leds (the GW FOP38 dominating the noises ). Here is the _interesting_ thing. When I remove the...

should I get the fong kai 603 0or the the320?

I would say the 320. This thread belongs in the CASES / COOLING forum, not the CPU forum. See another thread http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=37&threadid=267839 for further information. RD P166@210 pathetic.

Problems w/ Fong Kai FK-603 and possible fixes

I already have this case upon Anandtech's recommendation and currently have all of the necessities (Abit KT7-RAID, Pretested T-bird 750@1050, Mushkin rev2, IBM GXP75, Asus GF2) on their way to my house. Needless to say I am somewhat disturbed about what you report. Mine did come with the power...

Best _performance_: Abit KT7 vs. ASUS A7V

Sure, there are plenty of people who love the Abit for its features and jumperless bios settings. And some trust the name ASUS over abit when it comes to quality control over their boards. What I am wondering is: which board performs better regardless of its features? Is the performance...
