the monitor on the restart is quite normal it just means the monitor doesnt have a chance to go to sleep before it boots up again. as for the bios thing try hooking up a different monitor like an old crt . its worth a go!

Does the machine post ? i mean does it beep ? it should beep once. it could be a whole host of things like cpu not seated correctly (easily done ) all the fans / lights will do is tell you that there is power going through the board! I very much doubt that it's the psu at such an early stage...

It seems very strange that a processor is tied to a particular chipset. Usually some arnt backward compatible but later chipsets like the 975x should house the same processor surely ?? As for the sli debate - okay its not the best idea agreed , but if i am buying a new mobo i would rather buy...
