You'd need to add a manual entry into your router's DNS. This can in theory be done, but I doubt this feature is available on a stock router firmware. As far as I know, custom firmwares such as DD-WRT do have this ability. If you're minded enough, you could see about installing that on your router.
If anything in the case of a hard fault such as this I'd tend to blame a hardware defect over a configuration defect. Even if airflow was somehow an issue, unless something was critically wrong, such as a misplaced heatsink, sitting on the Windows desktop is definitely not enough of a draw to...
I have to agree with others here in saying that this seems overkill for most purposes. Sure, a big SSD for I/O intensive applications is awesome, but I doubt that most people really need a 2TB drive only for their software. Documents such as video, audio or picture files don't really benefit...
Honestly I don't get it either. I have the same view as you regarding 8. I keep seeing comments like "Windows 8 sucks, period", and I cannot figure out what it is that people hate so much about 8. Is it only the start screen? If so, that's a replaceable UI element that literally takes 2 minutes...
For hilarity's sake, you should have taken the phone, still ringing, to the shop. Run in like a madman with your ringing phone, begging for help after DAYS of interrupted alarm :P
Hi all. I'll add my thoughts to this topic as I acquired a Q501LA this weekend. Overall, I'd say this laptop is incredible value. I got it at 699$ USD and added a 250GB Samsung EVO at 170$ CAD. Overall it's about 900$.
I'm saying it's very good value because I simply couldn't find a laptop...
I've heard conflicting opinions about the new super high resolution screens found in the Yoga Pro 2 and the more recently announced XPS 15. While the screen itself is very nice, even with the use of scaling in WIN8.1, you're sometimes stuck with desktop applications that are simply not very nice...
Little reason really exists to refuse using WIN8. Don't like the UI? Install one of 1000 plugins available and you have essentially a faster WIN7, with better tools. Personally I'm currently using a more recent leak of 8.1 and it's very good. I haven't installed any UI replacement yet. ;)
I didn't put a screen protector on my S2X, and it doesn't seem to be worse off, after almost two years of use. I'm just being reasonably careful with it, and it's completely scratch-free so far ^^
Holycrap, DayZ is on there? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but it's nowhere near good enough in its current state (as a mod of Arma2) to be there o.O
Thing is, you hardly get a more subjective topic than "top x" lists. Not only are they certain to change wildly base on the person coming up with the list, they are also certain to be different depending on the factors used to determine the list as well.
It would probably be possible to come...
The thing with Windows 8 is that it's really not easy to argue against its installation. The most common argument against it is the UI, which is indeed not necessarily for everyone. However, this argument is quite feeble, as UI replacements are numerous and easy to install. Who would argue...
I don't get the point of this test. Isn't simple logic respected here? GPU limited games will fare fine with an older CPU, whereas CPU limited games will not.
Yep, that's the way I work as well. Keyboard is physically english, and I have both languages on it. I've gotten used to the shortcut to switch language (LeftAlt-RightShift) so it's pretty efficient once you know the location of each key on both keyboard.
