Intel Matrix Storage on ICH9R, creating raid volumes

Hello, from what I understand, using Intel Matrix Storage, you can create mixed raid arrays on a set of physical disks. For example, on two 1TB disks, you could create a 400Gb RAID0 array, 200GB RAID1 array, and 1200Gb JBOD disk. But the problem is, what if one of those disks already has...

hm, you'd think this question would be more actual these days with raids all around :/

    checking SMART...

Hello, this has been bugging me for lots of time already.. basicly my sistem is running 0 level RAID - two 80gb WD's behind it.. they both support SMART, but since they are one logical volume, i wasnt able to find any software which could "see" them.. does anyone have any idea if such...

    flash card read/write speed

i can't believe noone would give me any numbers :(
  7. Q

    flash card read/write speed

yes, that's why i'm interested what speeds others are getting. i by no means am expecting 12mb/s, but something like 10 or at least 8 would be nice.
  8. Q

    flash card read/write speed

perhaps, but what has that got to do with this? 480Mb/s, usb2.0 theoretical max speed is still 60megabytes/s. 80x * 150kilobytes/s = 12megabytes/second. i am only getting 5.5/6.5 megabytes/second.

    Are BenQ DVD-RW drives unreliable?

LG is a slow reader, so it can't be best. If anything, i'd get BenQ 1640 atm - technically probably the most advanced drive there is today. BenQ might have had problems with QC in their lines, but I haven't heard a lot of problems with 1640 (well, at least not more than with NECs).

    flash card read/write speed

Greetings, i wonder, if anyone who has usb2.0 card reader/writer and some reasonably fast (60x+) flash card, could try benchmarking it's read/write speeds? The reason I'm asking for is, is that I have Trust 725 usb2.0 reader, and Transcend 80x SD 1gb card, which is supposed to give up to...

    buffered write slower than sequential?

well isn't the whole point behind buffering to make operations work faster, by first using memory, and only then slow storage devices? anyway, it's USB2.0 device, and mobo supports USB2.0 aswell. As I said, rated write speed is 2.8mb/s.

    buffered write slower than sequential?

well i tried looking around the internet but didn't find anything valuable.. im out of ideas, isn't buffering supposed to make it faster? :(

sound card noise with hdd activity?

you people were right - it was the springs not making enough contact.. i pushed them around and the noise is gone! thanks! now to solve my usb disk problems :)

    buffered write slower than sequential?

Greetings, I have this USB flash disk. When I write to it, it only does so at 800kb/s, while specs say 2.8mb/s. So I ran a benchmark, and it showed that Buffered Write : 752 kB/s Sequential Write : 2647 kB/s Random Write : 1914 kB/s how come buffered write is slower, and how do I go...
