above normal temps with tuniq tower?

If your fan is plugged directly into the motherboard it's at 12 volt. If it's plugged into a fanbus controller or if it's attached to an adaptor or something similar it might be undervolted. To be absolutely sure your fan runs ok you can always check the BIOS for your fan RPM. If you have a...

    DVD-R vs. DVD+R

From what I understand, DVD+R is technologically superior to DVD-R, but because most standalone players prefer DVD-R it has some compatibility issues. This can be solved however if you alter the bit setting in the DVD+R to DVD-R. So in short: DVD+R, but alter the bit setting to DVD-R.

above normal temps with tuniq tower?

Four things can be wrong: 1.) Your Tuniq Tower is flawed (heatpipes not filled with fluid for example). 2.) Thermal paste not correctly applied (see this PDF for the Core 2 Duo's). 3.) The Tuniq Tower fan is undervolted (make sure it's at 12 volt). 4.) Improperly fastened bolts (it has a...

Zalman CNPS9700 LED or Scythe Ninja?

First; I never said that the Ultra-120 is the 'best' heatsink on the market, in fact, I even said that the Tuniq Tower 120 has (slightly) better thermal conductivity. Still, for me personally, the Thermalright Ultra-120 is the better heatsink, because it is quieter with the same fan and it is...

Zalman CNPS9700 LED or Scythe Ninja?

The Scythe Ninja is a very good heatsink, but the Thermalright Ultra-120 is still better. Review 1 Review 2 From what I've read, the Tuniq Tower 120 has slightly better thermal conductivity than the Thermalright Ultra-120, but it is heavier and from what I've heard, it's louder with the...

Zalman CNPS9700 LED or Scythe Ninja?

Tuniq Tower 120 or Thermalright Ultra-120. Great air coolers and with the right fan, they are very quiet too. The Thermalright Ultra-120 is recommended by SPCR. I'm going for the Thermalright Ultra-120 personally, since I'm looking for a good silent cooler as well.

    Best silent 500W PSU?

Can you substantiate your claim with some reviews? So far, every review that I've read concludes that the Seasonic/Corsair PSU's are extraordinary quiet. Silent PC Review, a site dedicated entirely to PC acoustics, even says that the Seasonic/Corsair PSU's are the quietest fan-cooled PSUs they...

Liquid Metal for thermal compound -- what a nightmare

Any pics of the damage BoboKatt? I guess people will still use that stuff, even after your warning. Pictures say more than a thousand words.

    Best silent 500W PSU?

Not cheaper, but the Corsair HX520W is very quiet. It has high quality components, modular cables and 5 year warranty too. You can read the review at SPCR.

    Lian Li PC-S80

Thanks for the replies guys. After reading the reviews again, I think I will go for this case anyway. There is only one thing I dislike about the design and that is that the back 120mm fan is supposed to be used as an intake fan, but I will use it as an outtake fan instead, I think that's not a...

    Lian Li PC-S80

Hi Guys, I intend to build a new computer when Vista comes out and I am doing some component research at the moment. I absolutely hate overly noisy computers, so what I really want to have, to somewhat minimize sound annoyance, is a low noise computer case. After reading some reviews I...

Antec P180 initial impressions (Haven't installed anything yet)

It's hard to find a Lian-Li case that compares exactly to the Antec P180, but one case from Lian-Li that comes somewhat close is the Lian-Li PC-S80. You can find some reviews here: AMD Review Dan's Data Box Gods Virtual Hideout The case is supposedly very quiet, just like the P180.
