    Hackintosh Router?

I run Tomato on a Buffalo Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 that you can't get anymore, and it is way faster than my piece of crap linksys I got because it was $30 after rebate. And I mean on wired not wireless, it was a bottleneck for my internet connection. I second the recommendation of running Tomato on...

    Password on wake not working

I am in the habit of just logging out and logging back in everytime I reboot. I am still at 10.5.4 because everything works (except the screensaver issue.)

Hackintosh 10.5.5 Retail Rig - Starting at $305

No. The beauty of Time Machine is it doesn't have 500 advanced power user options to confuse neophytes. I have a customer that has two backup drives for his leopard server, he takes one to work and opens time machines prefs to select it as the backup drive and takes the other one home. He...

Hackintosh 10.5.5 Retail Rig - Starting at $305

My HD did not show up in Disk Utility, or as an install destination using the 10.5.1 Retail installer, but with 10.5.4 Retail it worked perfectly. Unless I am the only one, you may want to specify this in the guide.

How much of a hit is what I am trying to figure out. Disregarding the other CPU speed differences, are we talking about a 5% hit or a 35% hit. If its closer to 35%, I may just pay up for the better CPU. Have you tried CrossOver? If VMware is significantly faster than CrossOver then I will...

Hackintosh 10.5.5 Retail Rig - Starting at $305

I have been looking, and according to newegg and everything else I can find E2180 does NOT support virtualization. Although I thought newegg said it did a few days ago. Maybe they corrected a mistake? Now it looks like I may be running Parallels on the HTPC in order to play games like You...

    Neat trick with Finder

I just tried it and it works in Safari too. Try it when browsing a ftp site or someone's hosted files.

Mac OS has done that since at least Mac OS 8 or so. Its what we had to use back before Column view. [old man]Kids these days with there iPods and their multicore CPUs. {shakes fist} [/old man]

Hackintosh 10.5.5 Retail Rig - Starting at $305

Are the firewire and ethernet cards that work with my kalyway hacked installs not going to be supported under the boot 132 method? I am not building my new system for a few weeks at least, so maybe I better redo one my my current systems with the boot-132 method. I assumed it was just a...

Hackintosh 10.5.5 Retail Rig - Starting at $305

From what I read here. it seems that Core 2 Duo is better than the Pentium D Mhz for Mhz. I am looking at the E4500 for $85. I am not going to be running Parallels on my HTPC, so I have no need of virtualization. I also just wanted it to be as close to mac-spec as possible, it seems you would...

Hackintosh 10.5.5 Retail Rig - Starting at $305

Q6600 is the chip to get, for sure. I have two running at 3.0 GHz on the stock cooler with lower temps than my Mac mini.

Can anyone confirm dual monitor support working with the GIGABYTE GV-NX86T256H GeForce 8600 GT graphics card? I am going to build an Atom to temporarily replace my Mac mini, sell the Mac mini, and build a HTPC hackintosh. I will use my old 7300GT for the HTPC and put the 8600GT in my main rig...

    $400 Hackintosh rig with 10.5.4

I would never have built mine if I hadn't finally found a real walkthrough and specific hardware recommendations from Kaido based on price/performance, and known 100% repeatability of results. The only downside is that IDE is best left unused. I would like to build one low end machine that has...

    $400 Hackintosh rig with 10.5.4

I decided to use the built in ethernet after reading the quirks it has; I don't let my computers sleep, and I use static IP anyway.

One of the FireWire cards linked to in the Hackintosh 101 thread is back in stock at newegg.
