i did a fresh installation of windows xp using the opteron 170. I have GEIL ddr 500 ram...and it's only running at ~464 mhz. I suppose some of the timings could be off, but memtest86 doesn't show any errors even when running for a day or more.
I got mine from newegg around February, I think.
I've tried different bios and everything, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Other people seem to think that maybe it's the ram. i might try swapping my memory around and see what happens, maybe you should try too?
the processor and ram are overclocked, but:
1. memtest86 shows no errors within 24hours
2. processor (both) show no errors running prime95 on each core for 24+ hours
3. graphics card does not lock up when running 3dmark for 24+ hours
plus, it happens even when i'm at stock...
I have an a8n-sli with an opterion 170 running windowx xp, and i've been getting random lockups ever since i installed the opteron.
everything runs fine when stressed, but randomly it will lock up even when only browsing in IE. i've reinstalled windows, installed the latest drivers, and...
i just got my 2005fpw and hooked it up. some things are spectacular on it; browsing and photos really are very vibrant. however, i am disappointed in some things, and that may be because i'm coming from a very high quality 19" sony crt.
the motion blur is noticeable, but not so much that it...
hows the black level on the 2005fpw? Tomshardware says that the vp191b black level is pretty decent, without backlight bleeding.
Maybe I'll just give the 2005fpw a try...if I don't like it, maybe I'll switch it for the VP191b. Dell has a pretty decent price on that panel as well.
if you look here, you can see that it's always under 16ms for a response time. anyway, i was looking at dell. if you use a 35 off 500 or whatever coupon, you can get it for $438 shipped. That's still 60 more than the 2005fpw right now.

i'm just worried how a...
I've been looking at these 3 monitors for replacing my 19" sony g420. This is a good monitor, but I'd like some deskspace back, and I really am starting to like how crisp the images are on LCDs.
My main concern is...ghosting. I am thinking that the VP191b is going to be the best of the 3...
nothing exciting as far as I can see. looks like they changed the default timings on the memory when compared to 1011.
as always, my asus update still doesn't work no matter how i flash it or what switches i use...
Mine won't let me install asus update either. I've tried lots of versions. I've even tried flashing from dos with awdflash 1.11 and using the switches cc, cd, and cp. Maybe I should just go back to an earlier bios. Does anyone have any favorites?
