This thing is really confusing me.
So it ran just fine the other night when I had one stick of RAM in it, as I reported in the previous post. Was planning on swapping the RAM sticks and repeating the test last night - but before I did I booted into windows to check my e-mail. I changed...
Last night I tore the whole thing down again and rebuilt it. This time I installed the 2 RAM sticks in the other 2 slots on the board that I never used before (4 slots on board). Upon boot up, no sound, and it was freezing everywhere (not just in media player). I had to forcibly shut down...
Thanks for the response, montag451.
My first stab at this was exactly what you suggested. I disassembled everything and put it back together. Everything worked fine after that for a while (5 days or so of light use), then my problems came back.

Wow thanks, I had never heard that before. $92 well spent. :disgust:
Anything else look fishy in my setup? I'd like to know what the heck I can do to get things rolling. This is emasculating.
I just assembled a new rig and can't get the XP installation to start without giving me errors. Here is my setup:
MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum SLI mobo
AMD Athlon 64 X2 toledo 4400+
Gigaram mach 1000 2x1GB PC3200 unbuffered 184-pin SDRAM DIMMS
eVGA 7800GTX KO PCI-e
Plextor PX-716A/SW DVD+RW...
Hello all:
I?d like to build a new PC system in the near future so I?ve been reading up on Anandtech lately ? I?ve been out of the loop for a LONG time. Even after all the reading, there are still several things I am not sure about, and hope you can advise me.
This will be a home PC...
