    Did you reset your cmos before putting it in? A DOA Opteron is very rare!

    Means your comp isn't prime stable. I always go for prime stable even if everything is fine, but it's your choice.

    Man, I have such bad luck with opterons. In my quest to get a better chip, I bought an OEM from Monarch and got a CABGE 0536VPAW, the worst possible stepping in existence! This thing does like 2700mhz at 1.6v, haha.

    Opteron 148 -- OEM or Retail ??? Purchasing from Monarch.

    Blah Rustler, I bought my 148 Retail at the same time you did and got a 0536GPMW. They are bad compared to the 0540s. I got 2827mhz at 1.5v: nothing compared to your 2800 at stock! You've been getting lucky!

    Has anyone bought an OEM 146 from Monarch recently? What kind of steppings are they giving out these days?
