Anyone know a very up to date, in depth guide that a first time builder could use? I've "helped" a friend build a computer (helped=watched, basically), but I would love to have a guide of some sort to follow which had every single thing associated with building the average gaming comp...
And...
Howbout if I wanted to overclock but just a little to be sure I didn't screw anything up (I've never even built my own computer before; I just kind of "helped" my cousin build his)?
Which would be the better buy for $120 (X2 4600+ or E4300)?
Any other recommendations for something around this price range (don't want to go over $150)?
And, any links to up-to-date and good budget gaming PC guides would be appreciated.
For example, if I wanted to build a computer say, right now, would I want to get
E6320+7600GT
or
E4400+7900GS
Looking to get the most bang for buck I can... for both gaming and general computer needs (like multitasking).
I'm thinking maybe get the first choice, since I would probably...
1. So the price drop in July is only on quad cores or c2d's as well?
2. And, if game performance is mostly dependent on GPU, how low down the C2D line could I go? E6600 at like $220 is probably the highest I'm willing to go... would saving 50-60 bucks and getting an E6320 kill my computer's...
Thanks for the replies... somehow I forgot to check this thread and only did today (June 1).
Anyways, another question. When are the prices supposed to drop for c2d's? I've heard people say July, but I don't really hang around too many people who are as interested in computers as I am.
If I got, say, an E6600, how long could I expect it to be considered a fast processor? That could handle (along with a decent GPU) games with higher requirements for good performance?
I'm not too picky with graphics as long as they don't look like BF2 does on my laptop (Nintendo 64 :()...
First question (more important) is: why does my microphone (headset) volume keep creeping down?
While using Skype (voicechat program) with my friend, sometimes he'll start telling me he can't hear me anymore. Then I have to go to the mic volume adjuster (I access it from control panel ->...
pinnacle studio 10... it's a video editing program that takes up a lot of space (and that I don't like very much - but it was only 20 bucks on sale).
I'm guessing there's no way it would be able to install on a CD/DVD... also guessing that for anybody who knows anything about this kind of...
Can I install an application on a CD or DVD so that I don't take up any space with it on my computer's hard drive?
And then can I run the app directly off it? Is this possible?
thanks, but I've actually used that with BF2 (well I still am, but not really because I don't really play anymore). Works alright; some letters and stuff a little glitchy though.
thanks for the link. I think i'll definitely go with widescreen.
Which one is the better choice for a PC user who mostly plays games and browses the web? I don't really do photo editing, etc.
Is it maybe just personal taste? I know there's games that don't fully support widescreen, so that could bother me. And I also don't like to think that even games...
