I had read that they weren't good overclockers so I wasn't expecting stellar results. Stock speeds are more than enough for the gaming I do. I just didn't expect the high-frequency noise.
I should say that my system didn't lock. I was using the auto-overclock feature in ATT and it completed...
I picked up the X800 XL to replace my 9600XT, and it is a profound improvement. I tried OC'ing it with ATT (the version bundled w/ the most recent Omega drivers). It would only go up to 420 core and 540 mem, with temps at ~65 degrees loaded (~50 degrees idle, my case cooling is pretty feeble)...
I'm attempting my first overclock with the K8NS ultra board and a venice 3000+. I've been playing with this for about two weeks now and I've pretty much determined that my CPU cannot quite reach 2.6GHz at max volts (~1.74) and memory (2x512 Corsair VS PC3200) cannot go beyond 210 at 2.5-3-3-8...
