Well, I put a washer under the heatsink bracket and was met with more difficulty in attaching the bracket, but it is also much harder to turn the heatsink. Temperatures seem to have dropped 2 or 3C, although it makes more a difference under load, perhaps closer to 5C. I'm thinking about maybe...

adairusmc - I dropped my voltage to 1.26250 in the BIOS, and my temps at load with stock speeds (2.4GHz) are still pretty high - 63/63/60/60 according to CoreTemp. I feel like this is quite toasty for stock speeds. Any thoughts as to what I can do to remedy it?

Although it's a bit late, I figured I'd answer this... I did the same thing, and the noise you hear is the mobo's thermal protection shutting the system down. Check the CPU cooler and make sure it's on correctly.
