    DELL XPS 630 Overclocking

Those volts are amazing. My CPU voltage is at 1.3, FSB at 1.4, and it is still not Prime stable. I did also overclock the mem but that doesn't really add too much performance increase so I may just stick to stock settings. I had one game crash at stock memory but it was prime stable. What...

    DELL XPS 630 Overclocking

So I managed to go to CPU multiplier to 6x and FSB up to 1333! I will try upping the multiplier to 9x like it should and see if I can get to 3.0GHz. One thing I'm not sure about is the HT speed setting in the bios (see the bios picture on this page...

also, extremetech's article clearly states that they could hit 3ghz. - DUH! I just read the article again and it seems like the system they reviewed is using a dual core processor. DUH!

    DELL XPS 630 Overclocking

... Repost from SSF, Notebook forum due to lack of responses. I have a XPS 630 with Q6600 and 3 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 RAM. I want to overclock but I can't get anywhere. I have never owned a C2Q chip before and I have never overclocked Intel stuff, but I was under the impression that 3GHz for...

HP 8510w vs Dell M4300 vs Alienware m15x

I'm still looking around for a workstation notebook for coding, GPGPU, and some gaming. I don't have a desktop and I would prefer to have the mobility instead (I move around a lot). 15.4 inch is about the right form factor. HP 8510w: 1920x1200 LCD FX 570M C2D 65nm Blueray reader 8cell...

    need workstation laptop

interesting. Thanks for the help. I was interested in a lappy mostly because I don't want to spend $400 on a LCD panel (there are so many to choose from). But I guess at the price premium I could get a really nice screen and a really awesome computer too. Any boutique laptop builders out...

    need workstation laptop

I'm curious as to why this is? Is LED backbit a new technology that they can't make it very big yet? I thought some desktop panels have them? Looks like I'm waiting for MacBook Pro refresh at this point.

    need workstation laptop

I just checked out the X300 review on notebookreview.com and the backlit LED screen is exactly what I want. It's much brighter than the T61p's screen. new specs: 14-15" LED backlit screen 4 GB ram C2D penryn 7200 rpm harddisk mobile workstation graphics or 8800GTS blueray (would be...

    need workstation laptop

ok, time to compromise a bit. forget RAID. Any LED backlit panels, period, from any manufacturer? I'll go up to 15" if that's what it takes. Any RAID performing laptops in a 15" form factor?

    need workstation laptop

I'm searching (hard) for a laptop that is 14" and is intended for workstation use. It needs to have the option of being docked, because that's where it will be used most of the time. I'm using it for scientific computing, maya, graphics design, photo editing, GPGPU fun, but not really...

    Negative effects of crunching 24/7?

No I don't. I'm working on it, which is why I'm lurking :) I still really don't know what happened. I gave the machine to a friend. He wanted my 6800gs to play games :) and ended up spend 500+ to upgrade the rest of his system - a new mobo, new ram, etc. It's the upgrade curse.

    Negative effects of crunching 24/7?

interesting stories about computers living longer if running most of the time. Here is my story: Recently I had to move across country and couldn't take my PC with me. I pulled the hard drive and posted the rest of the system to craigslist. No on wanted to buy, but when the guy who wanted...
