Mir96TA' I bought a heat sink off of ebay: ebay heatsink: Dell W4254 for GX280 which has more heat pipes. It's a tight fit in the 400SC heat sink retainer but does work. I suppose if none are available off of ebay, I would have bought one from Dell. Paul

Mir96TA, Yes it is running fine in my 400SC. When I first installed it, and for the next week or so, I had the A08 bios. I have since flashed to the A10 bios. With the A10, there is, upon startup, a big rectangular P4 extreme logo that was not present with the A08. Paul

turbo_: If I remember correctly, I am running the A08 bios on my PE400SC. I have not checked recently (until just now to see that the latest is the A10 bios) for a bios update. Paul

I have one of the 3.4GHz extreme cpus in each of my systems: a Tyan motherboard and a Dell PE400SC. Both are running at stock everything. In the case of the Dell, the cpu heatsink is (a recently purchased on ebay) Dell Optiplex GX280 MT Heatsink W4254 (also for DE420SC?). Thing are runing...

I would no longer be dealing with the local BB store. They sound like a bunch of dishonest and incompetent fools. Contact the department of consumer affairs in your state AND let BB regional HQ know that you are doing so. Paul
