hmm, aren't maxtor drives said to have problems with Promise RAID setups? not sure about ATA/100, but I've seen this quite a bit for Maxtors with ATA/66 controllers... in the case that this is true, you may as well get some IBM ATA/100 drives to take advantage of the 100 at the same time...

Just got a 16X version, and it is incredibly loud on spin up and data transfer. Anyone know if it is this loud with DVD movies(I have yet to watch any with it). I'm thinking about returning it for a 10X version if it is much quieter... anyone have experiences with either or both drives? Thanks!
