My 100 gb wd hard drive died on me about 1 week after I purchased it. Luckily I was able to RMA it and exchange it for a new one. Also I didn't lose any data because the Smart HD program was enabled so it detected it early. The exchanged 100 gb wd has been running smoothly for about a month now.

You can set up your own partitions through windows. Or use some 3rd party software like Partition Magic.

If you were to choose I would pick Seagate, i have one, they are very quiet and sweet My friend had two ibm 60gxp 40 gb. They both crashed on him. Also I don't think you need any drivers for oem hard drives. Just need to format them and install the OS.
