I may need to brush up on my Christianity, but I believe the view is that children automatically go to Heaven. Someone perhaps better acquainted wtih this could tell me. In that view, isn't God doing a lot of "us" (fellow souls, I guess) a favor?

An interesting point. I'm not sure what you mean by a "higher order" organism...
Every other day has worked well for me ... usually I alternate arms/legs. I'd definitely do more reps than 4-8 (in essence I agree with Deeko) if you want don't want to bulk up too much. I did 12-8-6-failure with increasing weight, and it worked for me.
