This is a known bug in the drivers of the Auzentech Prelude. It is called the "time bomb bug" and Auzentech has released a fix for it two months ago. Download the patch from here:

I just experienced the same problem as you had and I got it solved by installing the 378ATA Drivers instead of the 378RAID Drivers. If you are going to use the controller in non-raid mode you have to have the ATA drivers installed, not the Raid drivers.
