Newbie: Need to Upgrade Dell 8200

i see you were thinking about reusing the case. Forget it. Dell uses a proprietary mounting system (looks like ATX, but it really isn't). Also, your Power Supply (if i remember correctly) is proprietary. Just follow the other advice given here. New case/mobo/graphics/memory etc.

WMP11 - better than WMP10? Worth upgrading? Any negatives?

Upgrade to WMP 11. I love it. Plus, Microsoft announced there is a critical hole in WMP 9 and 10 (they haven't patched it to my knowledge, someone correct me if i am wrong). WMP 11 does not have the hole. Another reason to upgrade. :) Let me find the link for that...

    L733r chassis recycle

I am not an expert on Dell cases, especially yours, but i have a little experience with the 8200/8300 series cases. I looked into the Dell documentation on your computer, and I don't think you will be able to. Reasons supporting: --Placement of Power supply would block most current day...

    Need Recommendations

i am looking to replace a dead CD-RW/DVD drive. I need something that: (1) plays DVD well (not audio/video synch issues, my old one had that) and (2) burns CD's pretty fast and finally (3) a good reliable company with reliable products and support. I am looking to spend less than 30 dollars...

    Firmware Flash Problem

Ok, well here is the story. I was having some trouble reading with my LG GCC-4522B CD-RW/DVD drive. I checked the firmware and found there was a new one available. I located the new firmware (1.08) and verified that it matched my drive. I followed the included instructions and then began the...

    Removing CPU from heatsink?

i have tried the hair dryer method. it worked for me (had to remove my processor from a Dell Heatsink). I would guess it would vary based on the heatsink.

    Video and Audio problem

I am sorry. I don't know of any. You can try googling and see if you can turn up anything. your other option would be to buy a USB soundcard (creative sells them). However, they are expensive. truly sorry though.

    Video and Audio problem

Not to be mean or anything, but you are being pretty vague. is this on your computer or TV. If it is on your computer (assuming it is) those here need some more details. Do you have onboard sound (speakers plug into motherboard) or a PCI soundcard (such as a sound blaster)? Can you give us the...

    Dell 9150 Heatsink

http://www.support.dell.com/support/edo...tems/dim9150/en/sm/parts.htm#wp1060951 Enjoy. EDIT: I never have removed a 9150, but i have removed an 8300 heatsink. Make sure you heat up the thermal pad before removing it, otherwise it will rip the processor out of the socket (kinda like...

Difference between ECC and non-ECC ram

ECC is primarily used in server applications. Non-ECC is what is more mainstream. Performance..don't really know. I would think it would be hard to find a mainstream motherboard that supports ECC memory

    sorry for dumb question

depends on your motherboard. Could be F1, F2, Delete or others. Check your manual or the internet (punch in the model number or go to the manufacturer's website).
