I could not get the onboard sound working right on my Intel DG965OT so I wound up buying a SB Audigy 4. The sound is definately improved compared to my onboard sound on the Asus A8n32-sli.

The stock HSF is fairly quiet. No overclocking planned. I spend the most frustrating time when installing the hsf.

I had a similiar problem with static coming from my speakers. I believe I corrected he problem by using the realtek audio drivers from the install cd.

I used the washer and thread the front panel wires through so that they are held down. I thought that was the most logical use for the washer.

Plat, I have a similar system but my idle temps are 28-30c, normal usage 30-34c, and I haven't seen my computer past the 40c mark under load. Your temps still seem high. Perhaps you should re-install your HSF again.
