Question Speculation: RDNA2 + CDNA Architectures thread

As nice as the reference 6800XT looks I'm going to white-knuckle it until I can get a Nitro 6800XT from Sapphire. If that cooler is as least as good as my current Nitro Vega64 I'll be happy. It's not the best performer but its tank of a heatsink with a hefty undervolt means I rarely hear it...

Question Speculation: RDNA2 + CDNA Architectures thread

Digital Foundry just uploaded a video highlighting Xbox Series X power and thermals. Few quick takeaways are Rise of the Tomb Raider peaked at 151W, Dead or Alive 6 at 165W, and Gears 5 at 211W. Richard even made a nod to Big Navi at the end of the video, which I thought was amusing.

    AMD RYZEN 2000 Builders Thread

My 2700X arrived earlier today. Hooray! No issues at all on the X370 Taichi so far, although I'm still sifting through the bios and adjusting settings (on 4.40 still). The ram speeds have surprised me though. I was running my B-Die 3200mhz C14 at 3466 C14 on the 1700... Currently at 3600...

    AMD RYZEN 2000 Builders Thread

Just ordered a 2700X after selling my 1700 to a friend of mine for his new build. I already have a Noctua U14S cooler so he'll be getting the Prism as well. So far the only tests I've seen with X370 boards have been the C6H. Can anyone point me to some 2700X testing done on the Taichi? Will...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Many people have had great success overclocking on B350 based boards; I'm simply sharing my experience with one particular board. As I said in my previous post everything else about the Strix B350-F is great, which is why I picked it. My "mistake" was when I decided at the last minute to go...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

My U14S mounting kit arrived on Wednesday. I spent yesterday and this morning tinkering with my overclock now that I have proper cooling. It pains me to say that the VRMs and the heatsinks on the Strix B350-F are complete and utter dog****. Even with an open case and a fan blowing on them...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Still waiting on my U14S mounting kit to arrive. :unamused: I'm dying to see what this chip will do. Other than that, the new build runs great. The extra cores over an i5 are most welcomed.

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

With the stock cooler I'm idling around 40c and have seen 85c under prime95. Please note that this is in a Define R5 case with two 580's mining. For reference, my 4670k with a Hyper 212+ did about 38c idle and 80c prime in the same environment. Once my AM4 mounting kit for the U14S arrives I...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Got my system up and running yesterday. No real hiccups at all with the installation which was nice. The most trouble I had was reorienting the 1700's Wraith Spire fan so it was vertical. Its performance is adequate but nothing spectacular. Got the CPU running 3.7 @ 1.25v for the time being...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

After six months of reading about Ryzen and having the desire to upgrade, I broke down and ordered some new components over the weekend. Everything else I'm recycling from my current build. It's a 4670k @ 4.6 for those who are curious. Fed-Ex package should be arriving this afternoon. I...

AMD Vega (FE and RX) Benchmarks [Updated Aug 10 - RX Vega 64 Unboxing]

That's funny. I'd argue that my post is one of the most objective posts made in the last week. But I guess a non-frequent poster making a criticism about the quality of the conversation taking place is an easy mark, right? Review the terms of service you agreed to follow when you created this...

AMD Vega (FE and RX) Benchmarks [Updated Aug 10 - RX Vega 64 Unboxing]

This thread sucks. The sheer amount of information cherry picking being made almost defies belief. Then pile on top of that the same tired strawman arguments and obtuse rhetoric from the usual suspects... It's almost as bad as the cable news churn. What happened to maintaining an objective...

AMD Ryzen (Summit Ridge) Benchmarks Thread (use new thread)

That sums up my thoughts as well. If a 4790k wasn't so damn expensive (for an older CPU) I'd drop that in--but for the money I'd have to pay to get one I feel like I may as well sell my current setup and have nearly enough for a nice Ryzen upgrade.
