    Any new 32nm parts soon?

Thanks everyone, gave me a lot of info I needed to decide what to do. Unfortunately, while I do have 2 PCI-E 16x slots, the second slot is only x4? (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813128087) Either way, I know what I want to do now; upgrade my video card, build cheap 2nd computer...

    Any new 32nm parts soon?

I'm currently running a 4870 HD, slightly OC'd, running dual 2048x1152 monitors. I imagine the monitors are why I'm getting lower-than-expected results (I can't play SCII on Ultra without getting "You are slowing down the game" messages, for instance) I think I am going to favor the approach...

ATI 5850 cannot come out of sleep

Huh. I've got the same issue with a 4870. Never thought it could be caused by the videocard. I always thought it stemmed from botching some Windows settings (Win7)

    Any new 32nm parts soon?

Whoa whoa, sorry for the confusion there. I originally came here looking for some sort of mysterious ~$300 range 32nm quad core for gaming, hoping there was some sort of Gulftown variant in the pipeline soon. My point about a potential i3 system was this; I have two machines. My e8400...

    Any new 32nm parts soon?

Yes, definitely. Which is the route I was originally going to take (since I'm building my computer literally so my old one can replace an aging one). I was going super-affordable, and realized a cheap i3 overclocked was probably better than my e8400. Another question; 3.8GHz Conroe w/ 4870...

    Any new 32nm parts soon?

That's what I was thinking about Quad vs Dual - not to mention, I generally go 2-3 years between upgrades and I like to future proof to a degree. In addition, when I do replace my machines, I always hand down my old one to my family, so I do like them to last. Also, no mutli-GPU for me. I...

    Any new 32nm parts soon?

Blah, oops. Right. I think I might jump on that Xeon, if after doing a bit of research I find it's actually is the chip I want -- and I see it drop closer to my price range (~$380 on NewEgg atm). I'd really prefer an actual chip meant for what I plan to do with it (gaming) but I can't...

    Need an AGP card

Except for the videocard, it does meet the recommended specs, at least - 2.4GHz (running 2.8Ghz), 2GB RAM. Tho I understand 2.4GHz doesn't mean the same thing as it the requirements imply... and the 2GB RAM is likely looking for more than DDR1... but... eh. You should see the system I've got...

    Any new 32nm parts soon?

I'm looking around to build myself a new i# Core system, and, if I'm not mistaken, the only 32nm parts around are the Lynnfield, which are more entry-level, unless I'm mistaken, and the Gulftown which is the bleeding-edge-way-out-of-my-league-level. I've always liked the "tick" updates -...

    Need an AGP card

I've been looking around trying to figure out what the heck to get to replace an ancient 9800pro I've got in a Pentium 4 system (damn, that card has served me well forever). Except that... I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what is what when looking at the older cards. I've been looking...

    SSD - Primary or Secondary?

Oh awesome... definitely some excellent ideas I never knew existed. Glad I came here. Thanks! I think I'll work on this once I get home from work today.

    SSD - Primary or Secondary?

I've taken a lot of steps to reduce the amount of space used. I've moved my temporary files off the primary drive, disabled system restore, and never let anything pile up in my recycle bin. I haven't disabled Hibernation though, that sounds like a good idea. The general conclusion I've come...
