CPU Temp wildly jumping, overshoots (not heatsink related)

What HWmonitor reads is not that important. What is important is what the BIOS thinks because it controls the PWM fan and also decides when to shut the system down. So eventhough the heatsink was cool the PWM fan was going mad, and BIOS temp showed 100 deg (centigrade!). I have tried speedfan...

CPU Temp wildly jumping, overshoots (not heatsink related)

Hm, maybe the PSU is indeed marginal @420Watt (it's a trust unit bought to run the system with the IGP only, hence sufficient at the time). I'll have a look at this. However I think I might have solve the problem (waiting to cycle to box a few times to see it's working every time). What did I...

CPU Temp wildly jumping, overshoots (not heatsink related)

This is the weirdest thing! The system is an AM2 AMD690G (Gigabyte) with X2 4800 @ stock speeds and 2GB RAM + a 4850 GFX running vista64 The system idles at any temp between 35-75. Nothing is running in the background, no antivirus, no indexing no nothing. You can see the temp (HWmonitor)...

Different colour output between HDMI and DVI (same card)

Thanks for the quick reply. I have also posted on avsforum and have been through all the mumbo jumbo of colour spaces and wow, I mean why can't some things work by themselves. Anyhow, no I don't use a decoder, the card plugs straight to the TV. I am using spdif from my HTPC to my receiver and...

Different colour output between HDMI and DVI (same card)

I use this Asus HD4670 on my HTPC connected to my Sony 40S3000 via HDMI. The card has both HDMI and DVI connections. When I use a DVI-HDMI cable, Catalysts identifies the TV as DVI and colours are great. If I use ATI's DVI-to-HDMI dongle (supports audio over HDMI) and an HDMI cable the TV...

New revision of Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. What's new?

Does anyone know if this is the version with onboard 128MB DDR3 memory for the IGP? Because Gigabyte said there will be one soon.

New revision of Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. What's new?

I wasn't aware of the overheating. So we got one in the bag. But they could just stay on the same board revision and just ship them with a new heatsink. There's no need for a PCB revision update for something like this. What about the different BIOS?

New revision of Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. What's new?

BTW, physicaly the only difference is the new heatsink on the 780G chipset. You can see the old board here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Fil..._ga-ma78gm-s2h_big.jpg and the new one here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Fil...gm-s2h_rev.1.1_big.jpg

New revision of Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. What's new?

Gigabyte now lists two different revisions of its GA-MA78GM-S2H microATX boards with no aparent differences. Old one (rev 1.0) is here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Pro...ew.aspx?ProductID=2758 New one (rev 1.1) is here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Pro...ew.aspx?ProductID=2814 I...
