Got my board up and running again. I had to do some crazy bios clear F2 reset trick to get into the bios. Once the video was set to PCIex in the BIOS all was well. I'm not using the onboard SATA since RAID doesn't work. I got a SiI 3212 SATAII controller and all works like a charm now. I...
I'm giving up on the AN8-Ultra. There really doesn't seem to be a reliable solution for AMD 64 3800+ x2 owners on the AN8-Ultra. My cheapo ASRock 939DualSATA2 works fine once I get it to boot. No glitches, no freezing. That with the SYBA SD-SA2PEX-2IR (SiI 3132) SATA controller I've dropped...
There does seem to be a systemic problem with AMD X2 folks and nForce4 boards. That's why I bought a cheap ULi alternative.
Doesn't look like the bios 20 is beta any more. I'll flash the BIOS tonight to see if it helps at all. :
Thanks for the info!
Hmmm. This is going to sound really bad, but try booting up with the CMOS set to clear once. If you see anything on your monitor, then put the CMOS back to default and try booting again.
I'm beginning to think RMA is an option. Gonna try my ASRock board again. Otherwise, any folks out there had good results with the AMD x2 3800+ and their MB? What make/model?
Try removing any PCI card if any when booting the first time? I had a similar problem and got it up in a bare bones config where I got into the bios and forced it to use the PCIe video adapter first.
Mine seems to have some odd problem with the BIOS. Can't flash it either. I'm guessing someone failed at a volt-mod and RMA my board. It had a handwritten sticker on it from Dec 2005, which is when it was likely inspected. I'd send it back, but ain't worth it after the restock and shipping fees.
It's already possible on the 939DualSATA2 board. The 1 SATAII port can support external (long cables) devices, as well as port multipliers (external multidisk enclosures).
I've dug around in a lot of forums and there seems to be a lot of fuss about ABIT's AN8-Ultra motherboard. In my case the mobo has suffered from random lock ups, that seem to be related to the USB 2.0 feature. What was your problem with your AN8-Ultra and you fix? What is your config?
To...
I'd suggest avoiding this motherboard. I've had terrible issues with this thing and I've been wrestling with it since October. It's working mostly fine now, but I would have gone with ASUS on this one. I tried an ASRock 939DualSATA2 with worse results. My board seems to be fine now after...
I'm going to do a quick flame on ASRock. Why would ya'll put the RAID configuration document on the CD and not on the website? Duh!
Anywhoo, for all ya'll mobo-only folks out there here's the scoop on using the SATA Raid 0 feature with Windows XP. If you can, download the latest SATA...
NewEgg ships only the motherboard if you buy the refurbished product. You'll need to hunt down all the other bits and pieces separately. You also only have a couple of days to RMA if your board is bad.
I've just installed the board without the shield. The shield is mainly intended to...
Anybody have a floppy image for the ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 sata raid drivers? I bought a refurbished board and it had no support cd. ASRock's website it no help either. Mandriva has a nice floppy image creation tool if anyone wants to help me...
The JMicron SATAII controller shouldn't have any problems supporting SATA. I'm considering using it with my Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823AS to take advantage of the NCQ feature.

Anybody got a floppy image for the SATA RAID drivers?
