HOT - HP Proliant Microserver $180

No OS, but this seems pretty hot to me. I have setup several of these and they are great little servers, esp at this price. http://www.pcconnectionexpress.com/IPA/Shop/Product/Detail.htm?sku=13371257&SourceID=k54384&cm_mmc=GAN-_-dealnews-_-Primary-_-k54384&clickid=0004b9a5d5dce8340a2a460ba2e61ba8

    Climate Monitors

Does anyone here have any experience with server room climate monitors? There seem to be a lot of these gadgets out there, but not a lot of objective comparisons. We are looking to get one of these for each of our offices. We don't need anything super fancy, but it should monitor temp, humidity...

    Dilemma: which Mac to buy

I will second the motion that you at least look at the hackintosh option. I'll even go a step further and suggest the EFiX. You have to order it from Canada, and true it's a little pricey as well, but take that $1000 i7 machine and add a $250 EFiX and you have a $1250 Mac Pro that you can update...

    Nero has become teh suck

Well, there may be better tools out there, but here's what I use... ImgBrn for burning images InfraRecorder for creating data CDs and DVDs. DeamonTools Lite for mounting images. I have never had a problem with any of these and they are all free and light on resources.

Could it be true? First pics of the new Mac Mini?

It does seem odd, but I remember reading somewhere that one of the biggest markets for the mini was the cheap server segment due to their energy efficiency and ease of deployment. If that were true I could see them leaving it for use as a gateway to an inexpensive firewire RAID array. Still...

What do you dislike about Windows 7?

It doesn't work for me. I like the gadgets to just be visible all the time. I bought a great big LCD so I could have the deskspace to do things like that. It's not like the "show desktop" button is a radical new feature. I'm sure I would feel differently if I were a programmer and had a zillion...

What do you dislike about Windows 7?

I'll jump in on this one too. I really like 7 other then this. The nice thing about the sidebar is it's always visible regardless of what else I am doing. Having a bunch of random info strewn all over my desktop is pointless because I never SEE my desktop. The sidebar was one of the few...

    Restaurant.com - 70% off

Most of the restaurants I looked at had a 2 party $35 minimum, which still seems pretty reasonable to me. Basically it turns a $40 check into a $15 check. I got a year membership to the "Restaurant of the Month Club" as a gift for $24. It's not a free lunch, but it's a good deal.

    Best SSH client?

Terminal has a great command memory anyway. It's just a couple arrow clicks to get the last server you logged into.

So, a sherriff not evicting renters from an apartment...

It must be nice to live in a world where everything is so simple and obvious. I imagine it's like perpetual kindergarten.

So, a sherriff not evicting renters from an apartment...

This is the part that I just don't get. What POSSIBLE profit could it be for the banks to continue with this practice? It seems to me a simple court order that all rental income be payed directly to the lean holder until the end of the lease or some specified period deemed fair to find new...

    Bailout bill failing in House

Actually, that's EXACTLY what it means. That's why "tighten" and "seize" are two different words.

    Bailout bill failing in House

Our cultural ability to ignore history never ceases to amaze and confound me.
