The clock on my computer is going faster and faster each day. I think I read somewhere that that happens when the onboard battery starts to run out of steam. Can I just change the battery to fix this? Do I have to do anything else to protect my bios settings? Thanks for any information.
MrChad:
I have been to the threads you mention and have had no luck doing what it says there in my Thunderbird email client. I found a service at the help center for Tbird that says it can talk in both pop3 and http, but their site is very smoky and requires signing up for a service without...
I recently switched from Charter cable to Qwest DSL. Now I find that Qwest is married to the MSN mail server for free mail. I have a lot of historic stuff in my old mail including paid bills etc. I can't use the new mail server to get them and I can't move my address book because my old server...
I have been having a lot of trouble with the high speed internet serviee of the TV cable and so I'm going back to my DSL service with the phone company (Qwest). Can anyone recommend a good reliable DSL modem. I have two computers networked via a Netgear RP614 v3 router. Thanks
Sorry, I didn't know there was such a thing as line strength. Can I request the cable Co. to give me the numbers. I'm afraid they will use some excuse to charge me for coming to my place.

I am having a problem with periods when my Linksys cable modem loses its connection to the internet. It is a model BEFCMU10 with USB and ethernet connections. I am using Charter cable as my service provider and Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird ISP. I have Windows XP home on my computer and I have...
I have tried rarely to post to Anandtech forums. But rather than help I have gotton "you should have knwn better" responses--even insults about my name. I had tried to contribute so others might not make the same mistakes I did, but found that the experienced posters were offended by what I...
I'm sure that I use all the ink up printing pages, not cleaning heads. All the cartridges have suggested replacement at least once since I purchased the printer. I download a lot of stuff that I want to study/record (such as receipts). The CLI 8BK has run out once and is currently reporting...
I don't have a dvd burner but I got burned making cd backup images of my HD. About the 7th disk of a set was defective and when my system crashed and I had to format the HD, the backup wasn't there. What a pain. But I was using junk disks that I got practically for free at Staples or Office...
I recently bought a Canon ip5200 printer thinking that Canon had bigger and cheaper refills than my old Lexmark. How wrong I was! The refills are only available from Canon and cost about 15 bucks each for a total of $65 for a complete refill. I thought the fact that the black came in two...
Gentlemen, if you want to educate yourselves about speaker wire, I suggest you get to the numerous sites for audiophiles and do some searching for the physics of transmitting high frequencies and low over the same wire. The Size of the wire controls the energy lost per foot when direct current...
I am not saying that you need Monster cable to get good speaker performance. What I want to emphasize is that there are electric codes about what you can attach permanently to a nouse. If you or your folks own a home it will probably need an inspection to get financing. They may make you...
