The Unofficial ASUS P5N-E SLI 650i Board Thread

FYI: OCZ claims I have to run SLI-Ready Memory with a setting of CPU MAX;Auto settings; vdimm 2.1-2.3 of which I posted the 4-4-4-15-1T in the black slots, but I am not stable (random times on Orthos and BSOD). Set to Expert I can't even get into XP. OCZ sent me an RMA form. The tech mentioned...

Hit 1056 with 5-4-4-15 2T SLI-Ready Memory doesn't let you manually oc? If I move the RAM to the black slots, I can achieve 4-4-4-15 1T, but randomly get errors with Orthos. So, I assume this is a RAM issue. Definitely will consider doing the RMA if it corrects this...

No. I have some new settings I set last night and tested. I am unable to post a stable 3.5 (1400x10); RAM unlinked or 3:4. I'll mess around with it tonight again when I can. I should be able to out clock a E6600, I would assume...

Yes. So some time next week I'll keep a close eye on the temperature. Then I'll think about pushing the ocing a bit more.

Tried reseating the HSF? Retail HSF, ocin'g I was in the mid50's, so I would guess it might have popped out. I don't like the design of these. My retail HSF popped a corner when I was putting it in the case. The new Artic Freezer Pro 7 snapped right in.

Back online after a fresh install of XPSP2 (Original system started with a very old version of XP/corruption was aparent) and Artic Freezer Pro 7 installed. Definitely wroth the money! My temperatures dropped 10-12C. I'm especially impressed at how well it holds 43-45C while under extreme loads...

Asus Probe v.01.04.08 = Install is buggy, WHQL flags, strange memory address error (all zeros) and everytime I reboot it asks about a file to run. Just uninstalled it. On a side note, I tried running SLI Expert - Memory @ 4-4-4-1T (EPP rating) and cannot no matter what I change, get my progs...

We nearly have the same setup. How hot is your RAM getting? I could barely touch mine at 975MHzish 5-4-4-15 2T. I cannot run EPP rating of 4-4-4-15 1T with the board set to default FSB etc...

I only added a 20mm. Unless you plan on doing extreme voltage increases on the NB, a 20-40mm fan should suffice with the stock heatsink. I have a Zalman ZM on my SB. Check out post #92 for oc'ing information.

Ditto on XP installation. I believe the work around is to F6 install JMicron and nVidia drivers for the SCSI/SATA to work properly. Of course this requires a floppy, of which I had to dig one out of my closet. Core2 - PS sticker states 20a on each 12v rail. What I was asking is if people are...

Core2 - PS is a BFG 650w >> SLI Ready >> ATX 12V 2.0 Supports the latest Intel and Athlon based platforms requiring 24-pin motherboard and 4-Pin or 8-Pin 12V connectors. With the 20+4-Pin motherboard connector, it is also backward compatible with previous ATX standards. >> Dual 12V...

That does seem a bit high because I'm oc'd with the retail HSF running just barely under those numbers. I just ordered the Artic, hopefully that will help. Core2 - Thanks for the links on the PS. I was hoping there was something along those lines. Radio Shack prices are about that for just...

I've been hesitant to test with a meter (inexperienced). My values are within +/-10% for lower and +/-5% higher so I never thought much about it. From my research though most software programs are reporting below the actual reading. I will try to get ahold of a meter to try that though, or take...
