    1GB DDR3 worth it?

...obviously higher pixel count requires more of the vid ram...thats not what im asking. im wondering if having 2x 1920x1200 is enough to top 512mb, making the jump worth it. edit: so then does the video ram only use that to store the current pixel information, and therefore so long as the...

    1GB DDR3 worth it?

Its my understanding that no games really utilize more than the 512mb that's standard on most cards these days. However, I run two 1920x1200 displays, would the system then benefit from a video card with a gig? There's nothing in between 512 and 1gb (generally speaking), so its one or the...

    Insufficient PSU hurt a system?

thats what i was worried about mainly, the HDD not having enough power to successfully write to the disk at all times and causing corruption. very odd though is that the systems were rebooted in safe mode, booted fine (with the good PSUs). then rebooted in non-safe mode and they booted...

Safe mode repair my system by itself...or hardware problems?

So i had systems with PSU's rated too low for the systems, could only boot from a softboot, would hang at cold boot due to insufficient power. Proper PSUs were added to the systems, but they still did not boot, hung on a driver loading in windows. However, now each system was rebooted in safe...

    Insufficient PSU hurt a system?

I have more than 30 systems with a mobo that requires a PSU of approx 500W. 4 harddrives, ~5pci cards are installed. The system was run with a PSU of approx 420W or so (not enough in any case). The system wouldnt boot, hung on drivers (most likely due to insufficient power). However, the...

    Ram making an odd noise

i think that the circuitry problem may be it. Im going to swap out the mobo and see if that fixes the problem. Also, i do in fact have the sound blaster audigy 2 zs like everybody else, but i took out everything except my ram and cpu (including my sound, wifi, and gfx card) and the sound remained.

    Ram making an odd noise

ok now i have tried every possible configuration of the 2 sets of ram and none of them fail memtest. It still makes the audible noise. For example, when i am browsing firefox, if i am looking at one bookmark folder, then move the mouse to the right so that it opens the other, it makes a noise...

    Ram making an odd noise

running them 4 5 4 11 2T @ 2.2v no memtest errors, and it still occured when i upped the timings to 5 5 5 12 2T. the sound is electrical sounding, which it would need to be with ram. also i am only running 2x1gb sticks right now to troubleshoot. Its odd that it would all of a sudden not accept...

    Ram making an odd noise

sure, i agree that i should rma if that is the case, but with ram in, no memtest errors, the noise still occurs

    Ram making an odd noise

So about 2 months ago i added another 2gb to my desktop to make a total of 4gb. About a week ago i noticed a wierd high pitched clicking noise that sounded kindof like a harddrive accessing different parts of the platter quickly. I have dismissed internal cooling fans, cd drives, harddrives...

Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe- Video problems with 3 units HELP

did you try swapping the graphics card for another, tho considering its pci-e i doubt you have another handy. However, you can double check to see in the BIOS if it is set to pci-e or AGP. however that is probably not the problem. it sounds like a graphics card error to me, oh and you could...

how to correctly install sata drives...

the odd thing is that the problem does not occur on my 2x 74 raptors on raid 0, only my 320 wd in their JBOD arrays, should i have not put them in arrays and just had them installed as individual sata non raid disks, as they are not in a raid. i used to have them in a 640 JBOD until this...
