I agree, if it can handle the standard HTPC tasks, there's really no need for the higher performing chips since they'll just run up your power bill faster.

I just checked Amazon.com and the HD-A2 is showing up as $231.63 with Free Super Saver Shipping. That's well below the $250 threshold that most people have cited as the point at which they will buy an HD player.

That's a horrible deal for CMC discs. If they were actual TDK discs then it would be a good deal.
