One thing to keep in mind about P4 is that it was designed for high clocks. Northwoods of the time were performing on par(not everywhere, but enough to count) with their AMD counterparts.

Well if you're looking at quads it makes more sense. But you're right, I'd just go with an E8500 if I went with a dual. Less hassle. I might try it just to see what it does, 15 bucks isn't too much for that :P
It's a dell OEM board, they made a revision for computers sold with dual cores, it has fewer voltage regulators and will not support quads at all. The G33m03 supports quads.
Yeah it's a G33 based motherboard, so it only does up to 1333fsb. So instead I'd have to go with the E5450, but the board won't do quad cores anyway. I think I am just going to try and find a good deal on another computer, mine is getting long in the tooth. But I'd still like to know the answer...
