Which card do you recommend?

I was wondering if anyone found some drivers to allow the soundcard to use the optical output for all sound in all programs?

I have installed my AIW card and have successfully installed all the software. I set up a schedule of things I wanted to record, when the time came it switched on to the channel, but didn't record. What's the deal? Will it record if I were to close the program? Or if the computer is off? Please...
