Well...
Thurrrr goes my E4300... My advice: Watch out for ACPI issues, if your computer suddenly refuses to shut down properly...

you may get this...
One core is overheating over 110 degrees Celsius. The system keeps throttling...
So I have this BIG problem...
Suddenly my mobo stopped working properly. It just shuts down the computer after like 3 seconds from starting. Beeps, than shuts down. I reset the bios multiple times, and finally it booted, but refused to start at anything other than "failsafe defaults" or such...
Also, again E4300 owners, to the best of my knowlege, only the LATEST version of Core Temp is correctly reporting core temps. http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/
Please tell me that is not true. In that case my E4300 reaches 90 degrees in 30 seconds of orthos...
You can risk a flash in windows, using the bios update software. I've read, that some people had problems flashing that way, but I personally did it twice on two different systems (both equipped with the P5N-E SLI) and it worked just fine. During flashing, the system will seem to have stalled...
TAT works, but only under Vista. CoreTemp gets me from 35 degrees in idle to 75 (orthos) in like 5 seconds - too fast for my taste. Just to make sure i 'felt up' ;) the cpu heatsink throughly after a while of stress-testing and it was cool to the touch. I guess we'll never be sure, unless...
CoreTemp does NOT work well with this motherboard. The only software that may show you decent temps is TAT (Intel Thermal Analysis Tool) but it works, from what i've heard, on Vista only - so no chance for me to try it out right now.
Orthos is stable at 1,52something V.... wouldn't want to...

my bad...
max stable orthos is 1464 (3,3Ghz)... but i need to set NB @1,57V, and after a couple of hours the stock heatsing gets hot. I mean 1st degree burns HOT. So prolly not a good idea to keep it that way. Gonna pick up a fan for the NB tomorrow.
BTW. My PSU is a thing of wonder. I...
mine boots on 1555 (3,3ghz)@1,5V Cpu and 1,57V NB. Windows runs fine(ish)... but Orthos crashes after a couple of minutes. Stock cooling on cpu/chipset (but 6x80mm case fans). Time to beef up the cooling power...
How do you guys mount fans on the NB heatsink? Super glue? ;) What size fans...
I think the term 'nightmare' woud be an appropriate word when it comes to this board :). Not that i've tried, but from what i've read, getting memory to run stable without overclocking on 2 slots is a challenge...
Just downloaded the 0505. Updated (Asus win update for XP) :P Took my chances and it worked. I put the DIMMs in the black slots. No reboots as of yet.
EDIT: Right-click the "china" link and choose 'save targed as'. Worked for me.
