Ballpark estimate for LED TV repair

Thanks for the insight guys. I found a replacement main PCB board on ebay for just $25 so I bit the bullet and bought it in the hopes that it could be as simple as that. I figure it couldn't be the power supply board that was an issue (no signs of any blown caps, and it seems unlikely that any...

Ballpark estimate for LED TV repair

I have a 39" LG LED tv - this, purchased through Newegg - that's about 15 months old (figures that the warranty's only 12 months...), and it recently bit the dust. Absolutely no physical damage to the screen, but one day while in use exactly half of the screen went pure white and the other half...

USB 3.0 PCI-e card w/ internal motherboard header

Thanks guys, I ended up getting this one. I'll also be getting a Molex extension and a 20-pin usb extension from FrozenCPU sometime soon. Thanks for the help.

USB 3.0 PCI-e card w/ internal motherboard header

Wow, I guess I've just been using the wrong search terms and looked at the wrong pictures... 2 questions though: Does the Molex/SATA power have to be connected for it to work, or is it just required to make the ports able to charge USB devices? I'm a little short on power supply...

USB 3.0 PCI-e card w/ internal motherboard header

Anybody know of a PCI-e card that adds a female port for one of these... ... for motherboards that don't have one? I got a Thermaltake Chaser MK-I case and it comes with USB 3.0 on the top panel, but my Rampage III Gene motherboard doesn't have an internal USB 3.0 header, and I'd rather not...

    80mm case fans

I've used 2 of these Enermax 80mm fans for 2 years in my case, plugged straight into the mobo running at 100% all the time, and I've never heard them. My HDD spins louder than these. You could probably find some that push more air, but I swear they're absolutely silent, and 8 bucks apiece.

Cheap A/V receiver for business conference room

Having a second thought... what about getting ONLY this: AV source switcher thingy and get a projector that has its own cheap speakers - I don't think anyone will mind the bad sound quality, plus we can splice out the audio and send it to real speakers later if we decide to. Can anyone...

Cheap A/V receiver for business conference room

I've had dreams about setups like that, I didn't know anyone ever actually executed those visions - props to you! I'm actually thinking that getting an input switcher device like this one from Amazon (hopefully the price stays that low for a little bit) might be worth it. It'll be...

    New family computer review

Not sure how demanding the old CoD's are, but hopefully having 8GB memory will make up for not having a video card. Hope you didn't forget about an OS too ;) otherwise looks like a very good value - nice job with those discounts

Cheap A/V receiver for business conference room

Brilliant! I didn't even think of splitting it up into separate components, I kept looking for an all-in-one solution. I've actually been looking at the Lepai for my personal speaker setup, so I'm familiar with its versatility. I made this to organize my own thoughts after reading that -...

    Is coding hard for you?

How about an analogy to justify it :D programming books IS TO high school language textbooks AS jumping into coding and looking up things as you need them IS TO being thrown in a foreign country to learn the language Maybe I was reading the wrong books, but I still doubt any book's ability...

    What was your language progression?

Before high school (self-taught) CSS/HTML VB.NET/ASP.NET TI-86 calculator language  In high school (both classes and self-taught free time) BASIC Java Alice (does this even count?...) ActionScript (not a fan) Javascript PHP SQL/MySQL Post high school & college C#...

    Is coding hard for you?

I honestly hated reading programming books - I just thought it was the wrong way to learn... here's my 2 suggestions worth 2 cents. Don't memorize. It's already been said here plenty of times, but I'll reiterate it for what it's worth. Memorizing Java classes is just a waste of time...

Cheap A/V receiver for business conference room

Designing our business's conference room right now, and can't quite find a receiver to suit the need... Essentially, we're going to have a few types of connections built into the conference table (likely HDMI, VGA, and 3.5mm stereo audio), run those to a receiver in the front of the room...

    case help please

Newegg discontinued it, but if you can find the Aerocool qx-2000 somewhere online, I recommend it. LED/fan controls, neat double decker design (PSU, ODD, HDD on top & Mobo on bottom), plenty of stock airflow with room for plenty more fans, and space for full length video cards. Great small...
