    Testing methodology recommendations?

Set a fixed FFT size in Prime, e.g. 1024. When you choose one of the normal options Prime will cycle through different sizes and different sizes cause slightly different heatloads. Also use the logging feature in CoreTemp/Realtemp and calculate an average over a few minutes in Excel, that's much...

i7-3770k tested with IHS removed. Results?

The testing is flawed and the results are unfortunately useless. If you remove the IHS you absolutely need to apply more mounting pressure, but as you can see in the pic showing the CPU mounting mechanism he didn't. The springs that provide the mounting pressure only get compressed by a few...

    Thermalright Silver Arrow

No, because that basic design has been around for quite some time, the IFX-14. They only really changed the fin design, which doesn't really make it a new cooler. It is strange though that the cooler was released under the Cogage brand way before the Thermalright version.

    Socket 775 HSF bracket?

You should be able to find a Prolimatech Megahalems for around £40. It's among the very best performance-wise and has a much better mounting system than the Baram. http://skinflint.co.uk/a508326.html

    Socket 775 HSF bracket?

I fully realize how "bad" the Intel stock heatsinks are, I have lots of them. The Hyper TX3 is way better though (I have one in my "collection" as well, I was quite impressed with it). There probably were brackets back in the day, but as I said, Thermaltake isn't the kind of brand that offers...

    Socket 775 HSF bracket?

Even if you manage to find a bracket for that thing it's not gonna be all that much better than the stock heatsink. If you run is passive as intended it may even be worse... I would get a Cooler Master Hyper TX3, it's dirt cheap and performance and noise are really impressive for a cooler this...

Best bang for buck 1156 cooler

The Baram is pretty decent for that price, and since you're not gonna OC heavily you're not really gonna notice a difference between something like the Baram and the very best like the Megahalems (maybe ~2C at medium overclocks). If you're going for something in the $50 range I would spend a...

Which Custom H2O setup is for me?

You could also do a budget loop, with something like an EK Supreme LT and an EK/DD (Jingway) pump + a cheap res. Depending on where you're ordering, the XSPC res top can be a great way to shave off a few bucks of the basic build. Also don't forget to add fans, and don't forget the G3/8 > G1/4...

    Corsair H50 or tower cooler

If you use a tower cooler and install the backside fan so that it feeds the tower cooler cool air then the tower cooler will outperform the H50. You'll still have the hot air inside the case, but the R2 has exhaust holes in the top, so this won't be much of a problem. The Noctua NH-D14 is...

Cogage mounting mechanism interchangeable with TRUE?

The TRUE will definitely work with the Cogage's mounting bracket. The Cogage only has a push-pin system though, i.e. no backplate and screws.

    Corsair Aircooling A50 & A70

They look similar like the Xigmatek HSFs. If the price is right they could be worth buying, but if they're similar in price to stuff like the Megahalems or TRUE/Venomous X then you should get one of those instead, epspecially if you want to replace the fan anyway. The TRUE/Venomous X have a...

    Fan question

Yeah, I think it's a low RPM fan by default, afaik the 1212L in the model name means that it's a 12V 120mm low speed fan.

Noctua D14 too big for caseNoctua D14 too big for case

While the H50 isn't as good as the Noctua, it's pretty decent and a good choice if high 120mm tower coolers won't fit your case. If you have two other 120mm case fans in that case you can also just remove the fan in the door, case ventilation will definitely be adequate.
