    GT300 ready for mass production

Ati will not be care too much about GT300 which is maybe 20% faster than 5870 3 months later. By then, ati has the 5870x2. It is more important to focus on the mid-range card like 5850 where they make the most profit, and sell the most qty.

    Poll: GT300 VS. HD5870

Nvidia fanboys will not satisfy even if 5870 is at $100 now. They only buy Nvidia.

    Poll: GT300 VS. HD5870

Remember when 8800GTX first came out in 2006, it cost over $600. Now the new 5870 is only $379, so it is relatively cheap. If you are willing to $600 for the 8800GTX at that time, there is no reason that you don't want the 5870 now.

Flash 4870 1GB Bios - No more boot

I flash the card back to the original Bios. They never know what I had done. Checked the review on newegg on this card, there are many DOA and many defective after a few weeks. I think the quality from Sapphire is not that great either. Reasons to flash Bios: 1. Fix the fan speed 2...

Flash 4870 1GB Bios - No more boot

I had already try all the 1gb Sapphire 4870 bios from techpowerup database. I even tried other brand 750/900 4870 1gb bios. All flash complete and success, then reboot. Some bios gave me blank screen, no boot. Some bios can boot to windows, but with scramble pixels. I flashed my other...

Flash 4870 1GB Bios - No more boot

My Sapphire 4870 1GB was working fine. I want to push it a little more and flash the Bios to the Toxic one at 780/1000 last night. I use atiflash at dos to flash it, and everything was good. Reboot and tested with 3Dmark Vantage, and found a lot of artifact. I canceled the run, and flash...

    Motherboard Temp

I finish up a new build with Asus P6T and i7 920. Overclock it to 3.5Ghz (bclk at 175). Use Everest to check temp. The MB temp is 48C at cool start, 60C at idle and 68C at full load. CPU temp is 45C at idle and 55C at full load. I think this MB temp sensor reading is too high. Where is...

Asus P6T, Sleep and "Overclocking failed"...

I have the same problem. When the P6T goes to sleep, it never wake up. I did a hard reset, the rig reboot and said "overclock fail" and need to reset the Bios. Now I set the Windows power saving: Turn off computer to NEVER, so my computer will never go to sleep.

    Geforce gtx260 216 sp or ati 1GB 4870

nVidia does not support native HDMI sound. You need to use some kind of jumper that most HTPC users do not prefer. However, when you buy mid to high end graphic cards, you usually do not use it in HTPC.

    Geforce gtx260 216 sp or ati 1GB 4870

Performance for both is about the same. Check your motherboard to see if it supports SLI or Crossfire. Buy 260 216 if it supports SLI and buy 4870 1GB if it supports Corssfire. Both card price is coming down, so you may consider to buy another one to SLI or Crossfire in a short future.

    thoughts on a GTS 250?

Most gamers when they upgrade graphic card, they look for performance. Who care about power saving. By the time GTX 250 is selling at $110AR, Ati 4870 can be selling at the same price. Or by that time, GTX 250 is already a low range card, and gamers don't want it any more.

    thoughts on a GTS 250?

I am using GTX 8800GTS 512mb. Am I dumb enough to buy a new GTX 250 for an upgrade? I believe many people do.

    Nvidia responds to AMD's pricecuts

I don't agree. 4870 512mb is head to head with GTX 260 216. Here is the latest review: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3523&p=4 Assuming most people are using 1900x1200 resolution: Ati 4870 512mb wins: Age of Conan Fallout 3 Left 4 dead Grid GTX 260 216 wins: Call of...
