    i second this...i have the MyHD and it is great. although not so great for analog capture, when you start watching hdtv you will forget all about ntsc crap :)

    yes i know that. maybe i wasn't clear, i meant encode into MPEG-1 and burn onto a CD-R as a VCD. skip DVD's and MPEG-2 altogether, because it's simply not needed. 8mm VHS resolution only contains 240 lines, whereas ntsc DVD has 480. VHS won't look any better when encoded in MPEG-2 vs...

    imo it would be cheaper and faster to encode your tapes into mpeg-1. 8mm vhs resolution is equivalent to VCD (240 lines), so mpeg-2 would be a waste.

    common sense tells me that loads of people saw the incredible bare system deal and ordered that....thus depleting current stock.....but several people wanted to upgrade the vid card/cpu/whatever, and there is plenty of stock for that, which is why their orders went through......just a thought

    I am told that the way to disable fast writes is through the video card's drivers.....I have a Aopen Geforce4 MX 440 with 45.23 drivers but I cannot find the option to disable fast writes anywhere. I only see an option for enable/disabling write-combining, which I don't think is the same thing...

    i have an Asus P4P800 Deluxe with BIOS 1010, and an Aopen Geforce4 MX 440 with 45.23. I want to disable AGP Fast Write and i assume i change this in the BIOS, but i can't find the option anywhere. can someone help? thanks
