ATI switchable graphics? HP says they do...

How so? You are aware that the Intel graphics are coming from the Core i3/i5 CPU, right?

Upgrade to Windows 7? Worth It?

There's a lot of "discussion" about upgrading from x86 XP and Vista to Windows 7 x64. Basically, you need to either download the 1gb Windows Automated Installation Kit, or download just one command prompt tool from it, and then create the iso manually (because you can't run the 64-bit setup in...

Windows 7 is basically Vista renamed

The smart ones will be getting Professional for $30. (The lucky ones will be getting Ultimate for $20.)

Does Windows 7 64-bit really need 20 GB?

After I did a clean install of 7 Professional x64, it took 14-15gb.

    1.5tb Seagate HDD $99 shipped

In 10 minutes, the 1.5tb seagate hdd will be $99 shipped. I'm not going to call the firmware issues a myth, but I own two of these bought weeks apart early on, and both still work fine... http://accessories.us.dell.com...6A993O-JIH36V-AQ7E0-v1

    XP vs Vista vs 7

I actually would recommend Windows 7 RC over Vista (and Server 2008). The only compatibility issues Windows reports don't seem to matter: - .NET 1.1 reported problems with x64 but I don't see any after trying a program which needed it - HP QuickLaunch Buttons reported problems in x86 on my...

    ATI Catalyst? 9.2 released

Once again, the question must be asked... Anyone tried 9.2 with Server 2008 x64?

Any way to "downgrade" to IE7 with Windows 7?

I can't imagine anything about IE7 you'd like that isn't featured in IE8. For me, the only thing IE7 has that IE8 doesn't is slowness.

    Catalyst 9.1 drivers are here!

Anyone with Server 2008 (x64) tried 9.1 yet? I'm scared after nearly wrecking my OS with 8.12.

    Catalyst 9.1 drivers are here!

They're obviously late because they need a ton of work. 8.12 was a trainwreck on many levels.

Are ATI drivers any good these days?

Everyone's been giving you glowing impressions, so I'm here to bring a little reality. The Catalyst 8.12 is a POS. There are many users having issues with 4gb of RAM and HD 3870 cards for example, and others can't even install the driver (and are unable to roll back to 8.11 either). You don't...

HELP! E8400, boots at ~50C, rises quickly and levels out at ~88C! In Windows can top 100C and show negative reading!

Just what I said.. placing it under the motherboard so it would line up with the four holes =\ I didn't want to take out my motherboard because I'd have to reconnect my 9 Azalia/HD audio pins for the front jack which would have been a pain, so I simply unscrewed the motherboard and tried to get...

HELP! E8400, boots at ~50C, rises quickly and levels out at ~88C! In Windows can top 100C and show negative reading!

That's irrelevant because my secured pushpin(s) popped out long after it was first installed, as I indicated in my first post...

HELP! E8400, boots at ~50C, rises quickly and levels out at ~88C! In Windows can top 100C and show negative reading!

Well, thanks everyone for their tips! Currently my 100% load temperatures are approximately the same or lower than my former IDLE temps before my pushpin popped out (current RealTemp readings adjusted by 10C for my former use of SpeedFan). I'm quite pleased with the bolt kit (though no one...

HELP! E8400, boots at ~50C, rises quickly and levels out at ~88C! In Windows can top 100C and show negative reading!

Well, I've confirmed it was indeed a contact issue. The continuously increasing temperature made me wonder if it was as if there wasn't a hsf at all, but on one of my several attempts I did confirm that AS5 was on the heatsink as well. I guess the Hyper-TX2 I used is simply "broken" now since...
