There's plentiful of fighting games on PS3 that are really good multiplayer games. These include Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012 and Soul Caliber 5. And there's the typical Call of Duty and Sports games such as Fifa 11 etc...

I do like the Gamecube controller a lot, but only if the games do not require super weird button combinations. I really like the sticks, but the layout of the A, B, X and Y buttons is quite atrocious. But I don't know. Playing Mario Kart Wii, SSBB and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, I just kinda got used...

Mario Party 9 sounds good, but maybe you may also want to try out Mario Sports Mix or Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. :)
