I personally like +R with bitsetting to DVD-ROM on my PC and it seems to work really well with my DVD players.
For my set top Lite-On DVD Recorder I use -R because it seems to like that better.
Some of both are almost always on my shelf.
The A540 also has 6 megapixels instead of the 5 that the A530 has.
I have the A530 and it is a great camera.
The larger view finder is going to eat up the batteries faster if you use the view finder, but if the extra megapixel is worth $60 to you, then go for it.
I personally like the Canon printers and all-in-ones. I just bought the MP530 and have been very happy with it. The 830 is an even better piece of equipment.
It is pretty easy to slip stream your own legal Windows XP copy with the latest service pack and the instructions to do this and create a bootable XP disk are online.
I have been using the same set of instructions now for so long I don't remember where I got them from. Google search for...
Sounds like bad RAM.
Like the others mentioned, download and create a Memtest+ bootable diskette (it does it all for you when you run the downloaded file).
Memtest+ does not need to go into Windows and will test the memory completely.
I have had a lot of experience with the Canon PowerShot A530 and have enjoyed it a lot.
Takes great pictures and is easy on the batteries. 4X optical zoom and 5 MPixels is a great combination at a great price. The A540 is the same 4X optical zoom but has 6 MPixels and a larger screen on the...
Intermittent restarting is a difficult problem to diagnose.
I would probably start by running memtest on the RAM.
After that, swap out the power supply if you can get a hold of an extra good one.
My guess is that if it isn't one of those two, it's probably the motherboard.
The idea of the bus defaulting to the lower speed has not been true for quite a while as long as you are using 80 wire cable.
If you only have two devices then it is best to keep them on separate channels because then they don't have to share the bandwidth of the channel.
The most common formats right now are Comact Flash (CF) and Secure Digital (SD).
I think MMC and SD are compatible.
The SD cards are smaller and about the same price as CF,
and are being used in more and more products, so it might be the best choice.
How new is the burner, sometimes you need to upgrade the software (Nero) to get it to recognize the newest burners.
Not sure about Windows XP recognition though.
It looks like the "+" has essentially won the war.
In my experience as long as I can change the media Book Type from DVD+R to DVD-ROM, then it offers ultimate compatibility even with older stand alone DVD players.
I had to get the Booktype utility from Lite-On though.
Anybody know if NEC offers...
