Looking at Newegg today for Vega 64 cards I notice price differences between manufactures of as much as $300 for what appears to be cards with the same specs.
Is there any reason not to buy the least expensive card?
What are the pros and cons of the high and low cards?
How is that we never see Anandtech reviewing Mushkin SSD's like the Chronos Deluxe? It seems that spec-wise it's competitive with the others but it gets no mention here.
Why not?
now doing clean install -
hope I will be able to do a restore from my old drive :)
something I noticed -
during post I see "no drives found" under a Gigabyte SATA/RAID/ACHI heading.
the computer boots anyway. and I am in SATA ACHI mode.
it seems like a lot of this problem in general has to do with the motherboard and whatever chipset it has.
mine will not start in achi no matter what i do.
i don't mind doing a clean install on the SSD - I just want to be able to do a restore from the backup i made from the old C: drive.
WELL SO FAR i CAN'T GET THE MACHINE TO BOOT INTO achi NO MATTER WHAT i DO - AND i HAVE DONE ALL THE ABOVE CHANGES.
so my options are to do a clean install -
I did install the SSD by itself and when it was alone I could make the BIOS ACHI settings work.
I have a full system backup both...
Hi and thanks for the help.

What I have -
Gigabyte EP45
8 gb ram
Q6600
Win 7 Pro 64bit.
1 TB HD divided into several partitions - C:, E:, F:, etc.

I have the bug and want to upgrade to a SSD as my main system drive.
What I have:
I have a 1TB HD that is divided into several partitions - C:, D:, E:, etc.
I want to install a new SSD and move the C: drive only (and not any of the other partitions) onto the new SSD.
Is a good...
I'm about to rebuild my system with new MOBO, RAM, and HD. The HD is a WD 1tb.
Should I use the WD software to partition the new HD or let Win XP do the partitioning?
Would there be an advantage / difference either way?
thinking about building a new system and was going to go with an ASUS Rampage Formula but noticed that the egg has the ASUS Rampage Extreme for $160.
seems like an obvious choice to save the $$$
any reasons not to go with the Extreme over the Formula?
this is not big news to many of you that follow tweaking regularly, but
if you are thinking - "yeah, I gotta build a new bigger, better, faster machine - for many $$$" ---- this is what I got by changing only the video card.
I share my upgrade -
old system:
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
