True, the general feeling I got when I was China was that everyone's working and making money, so they couldn't care less about freedom of speech and other such prosaic matters.
Though there have been a number of environmental protests which I heard were successful.

In school/college, you generally make friends who then go to bars with you.
Work life seems a little different. My colleagues are great guys, but I want to make friends outside work too.
