Well, it took 27 days to ship, but I finally got my Asus r9 290 dcu2 @msrp ($439+tax) from Amazon. So far I'm pretty happy, gpu tweak says its staying under 78C with a max fan load around 45%, stock 1000/1260MHz. Compared to the other brands that's not terrific it seems, but I really don't plan...
This is what happened with my 280x that I had to RMA. Newegg didn't give me the option, just straight to refund. Fine by me in the end, I decided to step up to a 290 and ordered it from a different retailer.
Now that mine is ordered, here's the Asus R9 290 DirectCU2 link at Amazon. $439.99 but there's a 2-4 week lead time.

So got my Asus 280x before the holidays, and it started corrupting on me. RMA card will be here soon, but now that I've had time to think about it, I keep debating selling it and waiting for the 290s to level out in price.
I play on 3x1080p screens in Eyefinity when it works. The...

Personally, I have a 3x 1080p setup running on a Sapphire 2gb 6950. I would have liked 16x10s but I've found those monitors unnecessarily expensive, I was able to get my displays for $99 each.
I'm not sure how Nvidia handles it now, but in...
5760x1080, and before reading these posts though I thought I was doing ok running them on a 2gb 6950 :P I had thought about a 7970/280x but at this point I think I'll have to wait for the 290 to come out.
So, little hard to find good reviews that cover Eyefinity. I'm currently running a 3x1080p setup on my 6950, which is definitely starting to show its age. Is anyone out there running a similar setup on a single 7970 that could comment on it? From the benches it seems like I'd gain a decent boost...
Eh, new audio + GE at a reduced price, I might end up going for one of these. I've never spent more than $300 on gfx so the 290 would have to be a pretty big improvement to sway me.
Am I reading this correct, looks like a 280X is a rebadged 7970GE? At $299 msrp that's not horrible, I would have liked a proper new card at that price though.
I purchased a dv6 earlier this year when the 3rd gen i7s came out. I was very impressed with the price/performance and the matte 1080p screen is fantastic. But, I'm on my 2nd one because the first had absolutely horrible build quality, the current one was much improved but I'm still disappointed...
Did you try the various compatibility modes with the program in Win7? I've only had a very small handful of programs that wouldn't work at all. If that fails try XP mode if it is Win7 Pro, otherwise VMware Player or one of the other virtualization programs.
Wasn't P4 hyperthreading horrible? I seem to remember most programs actually running worse with it enabled. It probably just took them a while to make it actually useful and worth including on the other gen.
