how can I add this 8TB HD to the system?

So you mean to say I can't use any hdd above 2tb with MBR even if I partition. Am I right? And what about in case of external HDD's - like I am planning to buy wd my p.ultra 4tb. Wouldn't I be able to use that one also in my system? (they don't require initializing)

Intel 600p M.2 NVMe - good for basic desktop, or overkill?

Overkill definitely for home use. Better go with any decent SSD which will give you a performance boost. My suggestion buy - Transcend SSD 370s 256GB

how can I add this 8TB HD to the system?

Yeah in Windows disk drives with MBR Partitioning can detect upto only 2.19 TB. SO better to split into 2 drives of 2 TB each. Similarly for 8 tb drive - Make 4 partitions worth 2 TB each from disk management.

    How good are ZTC SSDs?

    How good are ZTC SSDs?

That explains everything. Thanks for the detailed explanation. Initially, I was planning to get Samsung 950 NVMe- thinking my OS boot up time/file transfers will be faster than a regular ssd, say - from 10 sec to 3-4, but now as you said it would be in milliseconds - so that's not worth spending...

    How good are ZTC SSDs?

I can see you've 32gb RAM and i7. I repeat, just go with Crucial MX300. That would be apt for you. Leave the M.2 thing. Even I am planning to buy a SSD, but my requirement is not upto 1TB's. I would keep my OS/programs/games into SSD and other media stuffs into my HDD. And for that, I am...

As I can see, you need 1 TB. Then go with the following (these are the best in serial order) - 1. Samsung 850 Pro 1TB 2. Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB 3. Samsung 850 Evo 1TB
