    New machine, same OS

Ok, so after doing hours reading online, I have yet to come up with a definitive answer to a question I have about vista OEM. The question is, I already have it installed on my current computer (which will be taken apart and scattered to other people piece by piece), and I was wondering if there...

An annoying, be it interesting, problem

Unfortunately I won't be able to deal with the issue until the beginning of next month, but first thing I'll run is hijack this... can't believe I didn't think to run that in the first place XD Thanks for the replies, by the way!

An annoying, be it interesting, problem

Alright, here's a very interesting problem I've been trying to figure out for the past few days for a client of my bosses. The client's desktop is filled with email links, each one to a different e-mail. When the e-mails are deleted, they re-spawn within a few minutes. I've run a virus scan and...

Blue screens and hardware and dell, oh my!

Wow, been a while since this has been posted to. Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try when I get back to the office tomorow, but it seems to be running stable now. I disabled HT on the chip, and it hasn't crashed since. My best guess is the CPU's ****** at this point, but if it runs fine w/o...

    Need help please read.

sounds like a power supply problem to me, if you have a spare psu lying arround, even if it's not the best in the world, give it a try. If not, there's always comp USA/circuit city/walmart/etc, even if it turns out to still not work, you'd have a spare lying arround for just such an emergency.

    C2D suggestions request

It's double the speed of the stuff I'm running, and I'm getting 60+ fps on most games with good loading times, I'd imagine unless you plan on doing overclocking you should be fine for a while.

S-Video only produce black and white?

A friend of mine had the same problem a long time ago, the way he fixed it was by installing the newest drivers at the time and boom, worked. I don't know if this'll work for you, or if you already have them installed, but worth a shot.

WOW - AMD is in trouble

I think Intel shot the Core 2 Duo out acidentaly at the perfect time. With AMD having spent alot of money to get ATI, they're down a good ammount of money. This may work out for them in the long run, but I'd guess for the next few months to a year they're going to be hurting until they can get a...

    AMD Athlon 64 4800+ X2 problem possibly?

If you have not already done this, clear your CMOS. I had some issues when I upgraded to a 4400+, but then I cleared my CMOS, and boom, worked fine. On a side note, I have never installed any AMD drivers XD. I should probrably do that when I get home.

Is my new monitor going back?

That sounds like a video card problem to me. Next time it starts getting distorted, try opening the monitor's config menu, if this is distorted too, then it's your monitor, otherwise, you may need to replace your video card. If you don't already have them, install the newest drivers on your...

    Acts like nothing inside!!!

Have you tried opening the file with power point? or renameing it to .ppt to see if it will open correctly? It's a long shot, but it worked for me once in word

    time to upgrade?

First thing's first, if you buy a pentium D, you'll kill a kitten... Moving on... EMT64 is a feature implimented to have support for, not force, 64-bit operating. You can stick with x86 OSes like XP if you really want to, so there's no worry there. As for dual core, you may want to get a dual...

    NEED INFO? BIOS? How to?

When you're computer is booting up, you'll have to press a key to open the BIOS, from there, it's all prety simple. Different motherboards use different keys to access it, but the most common one I see is the delete key, but I have also seen F2 (mostly on dell). As for actualy learning...

Blue screens and hardware and dell, oh my!

I tried replaceing the power supply, but unfortunately that didn't help anything, the errors kept rolling in. When I get back to work on monday I'm going to try swaping out the RAM, then the CPU. I'm kind of hoping it's not a problem withe motherboard, because dell does not want to give up a...
