Got my chair today, assembled it fairly quickly. It isn't bad. There is a pad right in your lower back for support, but it is going to take some getting used to. THe armrests are a little funky in that they angle down rather steeply so they aren't much support for your forearms.
Anyway it is...
The vote is split on that. Dulanic says no, DaddyG says yes. Both are respected members of the forum community. I think Asus' 2 PPS probably will handle the CPUs but I'm glad I don't have to worry about it.
Here are the KT133A boards I know for sure:
3 PPS (phase power solution):
Epox 8KTA3
Abit KT7A
2 PPS:
ASUS
Don't know about MSI or others.
My understanding is that 2 MOSFETs = 1 phase. 6 MOSFETs = 3 PPS, 4 MOSFETs = 2 PPS.
There has been speculation that 2 PPS boards may have heat and...
I have an Epox 8KTA3 w/ Duron 800 and was just recently able to get it to overclock (6.5x145). Who else has mobo diagnostic LED #s?? Stable, fast.
My vote: 8KTA3
the Epox and Abit have 3 phase power solutions while Asus is 2 phase power solution. Don't know about MSI. This has been hashed...
I was having a lot of failure trying to overclock my Duron 800 on an Epox 8KTA3. It simply would not post @ 133 MHz FSB no matter what I set the multiplier to in the bios. I was also having a lot of trouble upping the default voltage on the L7s. You can read more about these problems in...
Informant X:
Yes, but apparently there are no conclusions to be drawn from that. There is no way to know whether it will be a problem in the future or not. The degree of the problem will vary from a total screw to no problem at all depending on the voltage requirements of upcoming CPUs and...
@Gothmoth
I'm sensing a little hostility here, given your use of caps, and I'm not sure where it is coming from. However your profile says you are in Germany which could possibly mean I am misinterpreting your post.
I do understand that you are posting without knowledge as to what I do and do...
Here is the bottom line question though:
Will the Asus A7V133 be compatible with Palmino and Morgan CPUs?
I haven't really seen this question addressed well here.
Please actual knowledge and educated guesses only, to keep down on 'wild speculation'. Thus far it seems like DaddyG is leaning...
Grumble grumble. I RMA'd my Epox 8KTA3 because it is having major trouble getting to 133 MHz FSB with my Duron 800--see the myriad of threads here on the subject--in exchange for an ASUS A7V133. The 8KTA3 *does* have a 3PPS. So it looks like I will be getting a better FSB currently but I may...
This particular quirk seems to be coming out of the woodwork on the main Epox newsgroup on the Epox news server, particularly with people who have Duron 800+ CPUs.
The quirk is being reported as this: When switching JP5, the jumper that controls the FSB from 100 MHz default to 133 MHz default...
Check their web site, they just changed it regarding their shipping policy. I agree, with regard to my order even a short note by them saying pretty much anything would have been better than silence.
I wrote earlier in this thread that I was having trouble getting a hold of them. The ended up...
Thanks everyone for responding. On the Epox newsgroup, a customer support representative gave a solution that solved my problem and DaddgyG also hinted at it. Surprisingly enough, he advised me simply to clear the CMOS and restart. That solved the problem, although I am at a loss to know why...
DaddyG, I believe I checked all the jumpers but it did not specifically leap into my mind to check the clear CMOS jumper so maybe I missed it.
I am at work, but may be able to swing home at lunch and try to boot w/o the video card to see which error code comes up.
Do you have any idea what...
Thanks much to those that have replied with suggestions. Here are replies, but please don't take these as saying that I have ruled out any problems, I am just hoping they will generate additional advice:
I doubt the power supply is the problem. It is 300W and should be giving the CPU, mobo...
Tried your suggestion by connecting everything to the Epox with it unconnected to the tray or case. Same deal.
Thanks for the suggestion though. I also tried a PCI video card instead of the GeForce 2 GTS.
I am baffled by the idea that the board shows FF, i.e. all clear, but I am getting...
